Yvonne McGregor - Senior Sports Masseur
Olympic Medalist , World Champion & MBE for Service to Sport
Yvonne's whole life has been very much centred around competitive sport, initially as a runner, then as a triathlete and finally, through injury, she found that cycling was best suited to her physiology. Yvonne set herself tough but realistic targets each season, always gave 100% effort and focus to her training, and can now look back on her career and feel extremely privileged to have been able to experience success at the highest echelons of her sport.
Yvonnes working career has been somewhat varied to fund her various sporting endeavours. However, at the same time, has principles too, and has never been able to do a job ‘just for the money’. Yvonne's work has had to be fulfilling too, and found her greatest satisfaction employed in the caring professions, in particular working with people with special needs.
And so to the final chapter in Yvonne's career! After retiring from competitive Cycling with the Great Britain Team, and medalling at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, Yvonne knew she had to find a career that was to give her new challenges and a new focus, but above all the self-satisfaction and self-fulfilment that had always been important to her. Sports massage therapy has given Yvonne that in abundance and has felt like a totally natural progression for her, combining her sport, capacity to care and the human interaction she enjoys so much.
